Both sexes can indeed quack (I guess we should correct wikipedia). The picture that Karen put up looks just like my three! We named them Huey, Dewy, and Louie when they were hatched because you cant tell what they are until they get older. Turns out Huey is the girl haha. They do make really great pets, and interestingly, are not big swimmers! Their shape makes them less suited for sitting on the water like other ducks do. The runners actually are more land birds than water birds and they like to run around. So Harvey probably would have stood at the edge of the pond with Molly and quacked! Adam is pretty accurate!Shelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14024317469401108423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3117168333067506122.post-3865843076166074262011-03-13T09:41:28.143+00:002011-03-13T09:41:28.143+00:00Oh, love a duck! *teehee*Oh, love a duck! *teehee*Miahttp://www.facebook.com/synsytyvnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3117168333067506122.post-18412607576972399812011-03-12T23:23:11.976+00:002011-03-12T23:23:11.976+00:00Is it odd that literally a minute before I read th...Is it odd that literally a minute before I read the thing about the duck I was reading a comic in which there is a boy named Harvey that has dreams of ducks? The females DO have a very strident quack. The males, however...they sound like they have a perpetual case of bad laryngitis. Sort of very, very hoarse wheezy quack. They are very sweet ducks, and I adore them!Alisahttp://www.freewebs.com/dragonflydesignsbyalisanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3117168333067506122.post-30228126772548493092011-03-11T22:11:57.273+00:002011-03-11T22:11:57.273+00:00My dog hauls me to a Chi chi mall near my house th...My dog hauls me to a Chi chi mall near my house that has several kinds of ducks and white and black swans. It's so freaking exciting for him that he refuses to come home sometimes. I've actually had to pick up my 70 pound American bulldog and carry him so that he understands that we are going home.

Sometimes people are afraid that he will attack the water fowl but I know he won't because that would require him to get wet. So they're safe and he's puzzled. I've also considered getting him a pet duck so I don't have to worry about mall security kicking us out or banning us one day. However, said ducky would have a short life out of the water.Marilyn Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11739201463237661974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3117168333067506122.post-62150748475941157522011-03-11T19:41:55.981+00:002011-03-11T19:41:55.981+00:00Maybe the daydream was brought out by STM's ot...Maybe the daydream was brought out by STM's other side .... daydream man....hopefully not as outspoken as STMAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3117168333067506122.post-26967422198630474142011-03-11T19:38:37.201+00:002011-03-11T19:38:37.201+00:00Maybe they couldn't tell if it was a guy duck ...Maybe they couldn't tell if it was a guy duck or a girl duck when it hatched--it's not easy, you know!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3117168333067506122.post-1135696971795811232011-03-11T13:17:49.318+00:002011-03-11T13:17:49.318+00:00In the 1960s, my mother had a pet mallard duck and...In the 1960s, my mother had a pet mallard duck and she called it Harvey. The fact that they don't quack doesn't mean they can't, so I bet it will follow her example and make noise (quack) when she does still.Bareenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3117168333067506122.post-26254851721620420322011-03-11T10:14:36.286+00:002011-03-11T10:14:36.286+00:00Anonymous - Way to kill Adam's hopes and dream...Anonymous - Way to kill Adam's hopes and dreams! -KarenKaren Slavick-Lennardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01369065785609752479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3117168333067506122.post-83593805677116197402011-03-11T10:12:42.537+00:002011-03-11T10:12:42.537+00:00Male runner ducks don't quack, according to Wi...Male runner ducks don't quack, according to Wikipedia.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
