(in response to the little dog we're taking care of lick-lick-licking herself) "What's the tip-top tapping? No more. No more. If it does it again I'll BREAK ITS FUCKING NECK! ... Nope, it's not doing it anymore."

(in an exaggerated queen's-English accent) "Excuse me. Sorry to bother you. Would you tell me where I am? I'm completely ass-smashed lost. Totally. Totally."

"There's this guitar riff stuck in my head. Doo doo doo doo-doo, doo doo doo doo-doo. Whoever wrote it.... is a cunt, because it's stuck in my head. Bastard. I'll stick something in his head."

(full belly laugh, then) "That was funny! Do it again! Yeah. I love it when you try to speak intelligently. So funny. So funny." (more chuckles)

Next, Adam punched the headboard and woke himself up:

Karen's notes: Thanks, everyone for the wonderful sleep talkin'/walkin' stories that you sent yesterday. We got loads of great ones!

I get requests from people who can't listen to the audio to transcribe the "reveals". Here's this one:

ADAM: Ow!
KAREN: Baby, why’d you do that?
ADAM: Do what?
KAREN: Didn’t you just punch the headboard? Does your hand hurt?
ADAM: Well… yeah, but…. that’s nothing new.
KAREN: Did you wonder why your hand was hurting?
ADAM: Possibly… I don’t think about these things generally ‘cause, you know, some part of me hurts at some point during the day. (Karen laughs, because Adam is extremely accident prone) I’ve got a question.
KAREN: Yeah?
ADAM: Wh-
KAREN: 3:30
ADAM: Hmm. I have a follow-up question.
KAREN: Yeah? (laughing)
ADAM: How long have you been awake for?
KAREN: Probably about half an hour.
ADAM: A tertiary question…
KAREN: No, I was awake before you started talking.
ADAM: My last question-- (Karen laughs) this is starting to freak me out now….
KAREN: (laughing) What’s your last question?
ADAM: Why are you so wide awake?

  1. When you say Queen's English, I picture the Queen saying ass-smashed. But that's more a Harry domain :)

  3. I'm trying to figure out what guitar riff STM has stuck in his head, but I can't place it. Can anyone name that tune?

  4. I think the guitar riff he mentions is from "When The Sun Goes Down" by Arctic Monkeys.Just a guess though.

  11. I think the second one should be made into a bumper sticker... I know a few people it would fit well.

  12. So why were you so wide awake, Karen? Inquiring minds want to know.

  13. "‘cause, you know, some part of me hurts at some point during the day." Very existential.

The reveal always makes me wonder how wide-awake Adam is. And also how much Karen gets to sleep at all.

  14. To answer many of you, I had a bout of insomnia last night, as often happens these days. It is not unusual for me to already be sitting there wide awake when Adam starts to talk. I sometimes wonder if he subconsciously senses me awake, and just wants to entertain me (insomnia gets REALLY boring).

As for Adam, when he wakes up, he is fully awake instantly. I suppose that some days he is a bit groggier than others, but for the most part, he is what you might call a "morning person." For that matter, so am I, so it works out nicely.

  22. That was absolutely hilarious. I must say that your husband has one of the most developed imaginations I've ever heard about, what he says is absolutely hysterical.

And I also applaud you of your sense of humor to record this.

  23. A tertiary question...
I almost peed myself laughing at that one.

  24. I think that sounds like the theme song from that old cartoon "Doug" from here in the US (if anyone remembers it listen to it again, see if I'm not off my rocker)

  26. 1) It's absolutely nauseating how adorable you two are. Finishing each others' sentences and such? Goodness gracious.
    2) Bumper stickers are a GREAT idea! I think you have some that would be pretty marketable...

  30. I think it's awesome that you transcribe the "reveals" and that you continue to write out the words of STM as well as putting the audio up. The way this site caters for all is fantastic.
