"From now on, you will OBEY ME. 'Kay? Now just nod your head once for yes. That's good."

"Ohhh, Snuffleupagus. You're such a hairy cunt."

Karen's notes: My favorite part of that first one is the adorable little "'kay?" in the midst of all that machismo.

As for the other, I hope Adam looks at this picture and feels properly ashamed of himself:

Look at that. Eyelashes to die for! I'm sure I was not alone in Snuffleupagus being my number one on Sesame Street. I always did go for the tortured soul type.

  3. When I was about 3 Y/O; 40 'something' years ago (that's all I am saying about that), my daddy told me that I begged and begged for weeks and months (18 long months for him) on end to move our family to Sesame Street so that I could have sleep overs in Big Birds Nest with Snuffleupagus in attendance. I was certain he could just call the rental office and ask if we could come look at something in the same building that Burt and Ernie lived in. I was VERY precocious at that age so I had a hard time taking no for an answer and therefore, was RELENTLESS. I had it all planned out. I had a picture of SS and which building it was; as well as me sitting in BB Nest's doing my homework since I promised my dad that if he would please take us there to live that I would do my homework in BB's Nest every night (if my mom wasn't such a bitch maybe she would return the box that has those pictures in it; but she won't because well she is not a nice person, and we will leave it at that). BUT, I really would like that box of pictures, and stuff from my school days. I was crazy one crazy kid. Have a great weekend, Karen, Adam and STM (and everyone else for that matter). Lots of cold temperatures heading my way (single digits and wind chills below zero this weekend).

  12. Oscar the Grouch rules. I wish they had given him his own show.

@JS: If I could add fuel to your maternal hatred, she has probably burned or trashed your box of pictures. You're welcome. I'm glad to help.

  13. I loved Telly. But Snuffie and Big Bird were a close second and Third.

True story - when I was 4 and my brother was 3, our family went to Thanksgiving dinner at my grandparents' house. My cousin, who was about 12 or 13 at the time, gleefully told us that we were eating Big Bird for dinner. We went crying into the living room and refused to eat. I remember thinking "What's Snuffy going to do without Big Bird?"

  14. i notice a distinct lack of proper shame and apology is being shown by stm. no posts at all yet to say he's sorry to poor maligned snuffleupagus. :P

  16. Kelley, a similar thing happened to my son (3). My bratty sister-in-law said "Eat up, there's plenty - because we're eating Big Bird!"

I looked at my son and said, "Big Bird is alive and well on Sesame Street. And you're righ - a turkey *IS* a big bird."

I thought that ended things, but years later my son said he STILL didn't like to eat turkey!
