Karen's notes: Sorry about yesterday, guys. Our internet was down all day.

We did not have any cake yesterday, although I did mention cake. Of course, I mention cake every day-- I love cake. If I talked in my sleep, I would probably talk about nothing but cake.

Speaking of cake, I want to take this opportunity to tell you all about the lovely cakes that Adam makes for his children's birthdays every year. I think they're wonderfully executed. This year, he did an aircraft carrier on the ocean for his 9-year-old and a rain forest scene for his 6-year-old. I'm going to go find some images and add them.

Added later: Here are the ones I could track down. I had BETTER NOT see any of these on Cake Wrecks later:

those are licorice reins and a marshmallow eyeball!

that's the rainforest scene. The alligator pond is my favorite part.

Roar!

  1. I also love cake, and am often attacked by psychic/jedi cakes. The only way I eat eggs if if they're disguised as cake.

Glad everything is ok and yesterday's absence was due to a 'technical fault'. I was quite worried for a while there.

"Of course, I mention cake every day-- I love cake. If I talked in my sleep, I would probably talk about nothing but cake." LOL!

Totally love the Jedi reference and Obi-Wan tone.

  11. Mmmmm - I love cake too - what a small world! lol
Your comments Karen totally reminded me of my girlfriend telling me about her wedding dress, "It makes me look like Cake, and I Looove cake!" her tone was just too cute for words!
Pics of Adam's creations would be awesome!
Have a great day and Let us all eat cake!

( has it ever happened, or have you ever posted any kinds pictures to cake wrecks, a fav site?)

i love cake too; plus strawberry shortcake ice cream on the side.

  16. Bill Cosby had the idea for cake for breakfast in his "Bill Cosby Himself" routine. This just made me chuckle a bit. Adams definantly needs to be on a t-shirt too!

    ReplyDelete
  17. photos of the cake, please? :3

    ReplyDelete
  18. My kids want t-shirts. They asked how much the shirts cost. I replied, "I don't know what their cakes cost." The kids said, "Oh no, the cake is working its Jedi mind tricks on you!" They'd like to see today's first quote on a shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anonymous 16:27 mentioned Bill Cosby before I could!

"Dad is great! Gave us the chocolate cake!"
(Fierce momma growl) "Who said you could eat cake for breakfast?"
"Daddy MADE us eat cake! We wanted cereal!" (or something similar... going on memory)

Could combine "Cake o'clock" on the front and "Cake o doodle doooo" on the rear!

    ReplyDelete
  20. That "Jedi mind-tricks" isn't Obi-Wan's inflection - it's how Jabba the Hutt says it in "Return of the Jedi". He mostly speaks Huttese, but uses the phrase "old Jedi mind-trick" when he rebukes Bib Fortuna, his Twi'lek majordomo, for bringing Luke Skywalker to him early in the film, because Skywalker had used the force to manipulate Fortuna's mind.

  21. The cakes are great!

I thought of the Cosby skit too - "Well, there's flour and eggs and milk... all good ingredients for a balanced breakfast..."

Of course, the main idea was that he would never be asked by the mother to get up early and feed the chilluns breakfast ever again....

I love cake. I just had some for breakfast and it was wonderful. I would eat cake daily if I could.
Thank you for this blog. I usually start out my day with some STM and it starts my day with a laugh.

  23. Those cakes are great, but mostly what has happened is a craving for Cadbury's Flakes (used for the tree trunks in the rain forest cake). As a Brit in the USA I have my sources for these kinds of UK treats, but they are expensive and I have to limit myself.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Those cakes should be on Cake Wrecks, but during her Sunday feature, "Sunday Sweets" where it shows off the good/impressive ones. Adam's kids are lucky to have a dad to put that kind of effort into their cakes.

    ReplyDelete
  25. These are lovely!! So cool. :) Artistic AND yummy.

    ReplyDelete
  26. To be posted on Cake Wreaks you have to be a professional baker, or work in a bakery. But, I must admit that is the first thing i thought of when I saw the horse. Lol. Love the blog!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Wow! Those cakes look awesome!!! WTG Adam!

    ReplyDelete
  28. These are phenomenal! Yeah. My birthday is next week now. Can I send a drawing of what I have in mind? ;-)

  30. The cake's are lovely! And we gave 4 children 6-8 years old chocolate pudding cake one year when our kids were small. ANd them we put them in cars for 2 hours on our way to a beach. Car rides weren't so much fun, but they sure had fun at the beach!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Awesome cakes!! I just love that Adam makes his kids special cakes! What a Dad!

All warm and fuzzy now =D

    ReplyDelete
  32. Happy Independence Day, Karen! So sorry you lost day, Adam! BTW those cakes are awesome!!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Adam - do you have an older brother? I would be willing to move across the pond.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Nice touches Adam!...the kids must be in cake-awe-struck with surprise, with what he will come up with each time, creatively baking it only to be gobbled up and awee it goes, taking off, riding out, galloping and darting away down the chimney!

(cookies'n cake combo one day, dunked with hot ice cream balls, dream fusion?)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Super cool cakes Adam, you are a true artist. Mmmmm cake for breakfast as well, yummy.
Oh, and an aircraft carrier cake? That is just so unbelievably awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Wow Adam you're amazing at your cake decorating! I'm VERY impressed!!! They look absolutely delicious and so gorgeously beautiful! Lucky kids! :) You're a great father making great memories.

Yes cake for breakfast never hurt once and awhile...angel food cake especially; my favorite!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I loved "CAKE-A-DOODLE-DOOoo! It's cake for breakfast!". I actually did have cake for breakfast today... shhh don't tell anyone!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Please oh PLEASE oh PLEASE do the "CAKE-A-DOODLE-DOOoo! It's cake for breakfast!" on a t-shirt! I would so buy one and would probably wear it all the time! I plan to buy the Cake-o-clock t-shirt, too!!! I am a cake decorator and love the cake pics you put up. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh Adam - those cakes are AWESOME!!! Me too, T - I love it that Adam makes his kids special cakes!

And Tavdy - the Obi-Wan reference is to "These aren't the droids you're looking for." (for me, anyway)

  40. Trees made of Flake! Love it. :)

  41. I'm with Jacquie, I so want some Flakes now!!

  46. I can't believe Adam is so cake-crafty! Way to go Karen you got yourself a domestic! =)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Adam's talent is very impressive.

My parents married very young (because there was a war going on and that made people romantic--it is a hormonal thing). As a bratty teenager, I used to tell people that they married each other so they could eat cake for breakfast and there wouldn't be any grownup to stop them. (When I am not daydreamer's daughter, I am SnippyGirl)

  48. had cake for lunch. it's always cake o'clock.
glad you got your net back up and a chance to see how loved you both are the world over. :)
the cakes are so very cool. what a talented daddy and husband you have!

  49. Had leftover 4th banana split cake for breakfast this a.m. here in the States. Yum! (Cheesecake is one of my favorite breakfast "cakes"...it's *sort* of like yogurt.) Suggest thinking about cake o'clock and cock-a-doodle cake clocks in addition to the other merch requests.

    ReplyDelete
  50. @T.A.C.: Now that would be an interesting bit of merchandising ...... a wall clock with "CAKE" all around the dial instead of numbers; and the "Cake o'clock!" quote in the middle...... 7@=e

Probably a bit too complicated to get the product made, though, with the company they're using......

    ReplyDelete
  51. Those cakes are adorable! I can really see all the love and effort he put in them. All my dad ever made me when I was a kid was oatmeal (not that I'm questioning dad's love for me). :D Really really awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am also cake obsessed, and I agree that my sleep talking would likely center around dessert items if, in fact, I was a sleep talker. Those cakes Adam made for the kids are freaking adorable! BRAVO!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oh they look fun...yesterday I blogged about the cakes I make for my kids.

    http://www.thechocolateladyblog.blogspot.com

    ReplyDelete
  54. Please go to CafePress.com and make a CakeADoodle Tshirt! I think a clock with silly cartoon hands and different cakes as the numbers would be cute. Like a vanilla frosted cupcake where the 1 should be, a sheet cake where the 2 should be, a layered cake where the 3 should be, a choco frosted cupcake where the 4 should be, a weeding cake where the 5 goes, etc. And underneath that, put the saying.

Then for the Jedi cake, have a cupcake with a Jedi outfit and the saying. I would SOOOO buy those in a heartbeat!

    ReplyDelete
  55. well, it DID end up on 'Cake Wrecks' - but in a good way!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. he's got wonderful talent at decorating cakes, I'm so jealous!

  57. LOL! We had our niece and nephew here on the weekend, the only steadfast rule we have for visiting kids is CAKE FOR BREAKFAST!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I wouldn't mind waking up with that horse head in my bed.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Ok, it took a couple of days, but I did finally get CAKE-A-DOODLE-DOOooo onto shirts and mugs!

    ReplyDelete
  60. LOL, "cake" is the swear filter substitute for cock on one of the forums I use.

I've got to have a shirt with that on.

    ReplyDelete
  61. @Jacquie,

Depending on where you are, it might be cheaper to get the flakes from Canada. We get them here all the time, mostly in smoke shops or pubs.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Cute cakes~ :D btw, are his kids not yours?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Those cakes look amazing.. . no mis-spellings.. so no cake wrecks. by the way I made an amazing Fourth of July cake and my step-father had it for breakfast as many days as he could. I’m thinking of buying him the CAKE-A-DOODLE-DOOOOO shirt for him. The blog is amazing. I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh! I got very inspired by those cakes. Very creative and funny. You guys would love to explore the raw food cakes that you can make! I eat cake every day, sometimes even for breakfast, and feel great! Because they are healthy and very nutritious. Just an example: http://www.rawandvegan.com/wp-content/uploads/cake.jpg
