My tattoo artist says oops all the time. So far he's only been joking.
But, once while i was getting a filling, the dentist said "SHIT, SHIT, SHIT! DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!" i think she started drilling in the wrong tooth because now i have a funny little filled spot on one...
There's a fabulous ad for an insurance agency, which was one of the Cannes winners over a decade ago, in which a young sailor goes into a murky asian tattoo shop (forces by peer pressure) to get a tattoo. The artist, a huge fat bald and angry Chinese, gets to work, then the phone rings. While he's talking to somebody in Chinese, he keeps on tattooing. Later we see that he has doodled on the young sailor's back while on the phone. Ooops.
(I couldn't find it on YouTube unfortunately, because the uploaders usually call these kinds of films "best ad ever" or "very funny ad" and don't tag them properly. Sheesh.)
i'm friends with a few tattoo artists & have heard them say oops numerous times. luckily they were doing free-hand, abstract, make-it-up-as-you go kind of work on other friends....but still...saying oops when no one knows you made a mistake leads me to belive its happened more than once in a shop with a paying customer.
I've thought this many times before, and now STM puts it into words, hilariously, as usual. Thank you so much for sharing this! :D Laughed my ass off over this.
There are many things one hopes to hear from a tattoo artist. Oops is definitely not one of them!
ReplyDeleteNor your surgeon.
ReplyDeleteOh, does he have tattoos?
ReplyDeleteNext in line might be your barber.
ReplyDeleteOooo - I wonder what kind of tattoo STM would have. I mean, he can be so nasty -
ReplyDeleteI'd say the dentist should be at the top. Especially when wielding a drill and you are full of novocaine.

"Oops" may be bad coming from your tattoo artist, but "Well, that's not supposed to be there" from your surgeon is worse.
ReplyDeleteI had eye surgery years ago, and they don't put you under, so I told the Dr I didn't want to hear any "oops"...
ReplyDelete:D:D:D

ReplyDeleteI seem to recollect an old Bill Cosby routine on the subject....... 7@=Q
ReplyDeleteI know I'd be scared lol.
ReplyDelete@ JulianR, that sounds vaguely familiar and I remember nothing and have lived most of my life without tv. Memorable ad then!
ReplyDeleteThat is something I would not like to hear from a Brain Surgeon.
ReplyDelete@JulianR, if you use "centraal beheer commercial tattoo" on Youtube, you'll find the video. It's definitely hilarious.
ReplyDeleteKarin
I once heard it, while in the chair at my dentist. Not good!

ReplyDeletebetter a tatoo artist than a heart surgeon in the middle of a operation.
ReplyDeleteI don't like to hear this from my hairdresser, either!
