"What I really need now is a whippet, three tubes, and a fuck-off mallet. Then it's go go go!"

Karen's notes: I have a reveal in which Adam and I make sense of this seemingly random collection of items. However, he felt it was an insult to your intelligence to include it. He has faith that you can all figure out for yourselves what one would do with a whippet, three tubes, and a mallet. So don't let him down!

  1. All I can think of is "ouch"!!!

  2. Sounds like STM's version of whack-a-mole. Poor whippet.

  3. Oh! I couldn't think of it but Mo is probably right!!

  4. This sound similar to the cat, wellington boot and wire scenario. Ouch.

  5. a whippet is either a dog, the n20 (nitrous oxide) canister for a whipped cream can.. or the term they used to use for getting high by sucking the gas from the whipped cream can.. either way, someone is getting hurt

  6. Nah, I think the last sentence holds the key. But it still leaves me with two possibilities...

  7. Hmm.. The whippet to chase them down, the tubes to tie them up, and the mallet to finish them off!

  8. Sounds an awful lot like a whippet cannon to me.

  9. Why am I the only one who wonders about the tubes? It could be tubes of paint, PVC piping, vacuum tubes (from an old radio or TV), a tube-top, a tubular wave, a short version of tuba.., or am I over-thinking it?
Adam must be so disappointed in us.

  10. Whippet-themed gazebo, of course!

  11. So when ARE we going to find out what it means? Or are you guys rewarding free STM-items to the person who gets it right first :p

  12. Is this an inspector gadget reference, perhaps?

  13. I'm so sorry to disappoint Adam, but I am clueless...Hoping @Mo is not right, though...

  14. Don't forget, everyone, we have only the same information at our disposal that you do! Anything we come up with is just a guess as well. -Karen

  15. Hmmm... my first thought is whippet polo (with riding the whippet), but that doesn't take in account the tubes. As Pooh says, "Oh, bother!"

  16. OK Reverse order, we're making a water park for dogs. The mallet for buiding, the tubes for sliding down, and the whippet as the testing dog.

  17. I really hope it's not sexual... :P

  18. i think its to make a weave pole to train the Whippet.

  19. How about a three stage whippet rocket, with the mallet to launch it carnival strength game style? Send whippets long range to all your enemies :)

  20. Does Adam have a mental picture of any of this? How big are the tubes?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well, the possibilities are
    Whack a whippet
Whippet ball (new Olympic sport, yes?)
Or it could just be a nice little mini whippet playground!

  22. We must remember, it's not just any Mallet, it has a special purpose.
I'm thinking the Whippet is like a rapid-moving holder for the mallet wielding place-kicker. Obviously, there would be three targets. hmmm?

  23. is it Cricket? Don't they stick three poles behind the guy with the flat bat? Watch out for a wicked googley...

  24. I want to hear the reveal! *whine*

  25. Well, a three-tube whippet definitely gets better reception than the old-fashioned crystal whippet...... the mallet is used for tuning in stations (though a foam-rubber mallet is preferred nowadays, to avoid damaging the set)...... 7@=Q

  26. yeah, I'm pretty sure he wants to play whack-a-whippet. although, i can't say that before now I've heard of a whippet. I had to look it up on Google Images. It looks like a greyhound. Maybe it's the British name for it? Poor greyhound! What'd he do to STM? :-( lol I love this site! I come here every day for a dose of laughter.

  27. Karen, I hope you'll post the reveal tomorrow just for our entertainment. :)

  28. TeeRows, a whippet is an entirely different breed of dog than a greyhound - smaller and lighter. But I believe the breed was originally a mix of greyhound and some kind of terrier.

To give a more recent example: Labradoodles (Labrador/poodle mixes) once upon a time would've been called "mutts". Now they're their own breed.

  29. Can a whippet curl up into a ball, like the hedgehogs in the croquet game in "Alice in Wonderland"?

    ReplyDelete
  30. i think it's whack-a-whippet...although i don't know what a whippet is.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sounds like the scene in Alice In Wonderland (I think) where they're playing croquet with the hedgehogs and flamingoes.

  32. STM is obviously thinking of fixing up a 1927 Overland Whippet (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ozfan22/3390365643/), so he can go go go. That's why he needs the tubes and mallet.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hmm. Sounds like STM is planning to use the mallet to force the tubes on the whippet's chest, thus creating an over-sized dachshund?

Trying to get into STM's state of mind is hard, especially when you're not asleep.

  34. I thought it would be three long tubes like drainpipes and the whippet would run into one of them and you would stand at the other end and have to guess which tube he would choose and when he was going to come out. Kind of like bat the rat
