Karen's notes: Listen closely to the beginning of the first clip. That sound you hear is the pitter-patter of tiny little doggie feet on our bedroom carpet. Namely, the feet of Twinkle, the miniature chihuahua that we're dog sitting. Twinkle obviously felt that she had had enough sleep, and was ready for a bit of exercise.

I think it's cool that, in his sleep, Adam knew exactly what the skittering sound was.

As for the second clip... my husband is very odd.

  1. My husband is very odd too, but not nearly as amusing. Lol, all he does is snore. Thanks for my morning giggle! It restores my faith in mankind that sleep talkin man (with the foul language) reserves his nasty comments for humans and is kindly towards animals. He doesn't want a puppy tornado, after all. Sleep Talkin' Man...PETA approved!

  5. Up early, sneaking some computer time in before hubby, kids and dog wake up. "Doodle bug, Repeat please' ruined my stealth. Now I have to take dog for a walk. :-(

Thanks for the guffaw in the wee hours of the morning though!

  8. Do you imagine you'll return that doggie to his rightful owner? I wouldn't.

BTW I sleep with a snoring Siamese cat--sometimes he likes to wrap himself around the top of my head at night and snore. And you can see that his feelings are hurt whan I make him go to his side of the bed...

  9. I love how he says 'Repeat please'. I was trying not to laugh so I didn't spit my soy milk out.

  10. The image of whirling puppies is in my mind now, thank you very much...poor, poor puppies, lol.

The "repeat please" did me in. Today Adam has me off and rolling to a good start. Thank you very much! Just what I needed.

  14. The doodle bug reminds me of some children's show. Like Mr. Rogers doing the voice of a puppet.

  15. There's a children's song called Doodlebug by Laurie Berkner. Perhaps his kids have listened to it?

  16. Repeat please

That made me spill my cocoa...That was just said so...perfectly.

  17. Doodlebugs were what we called little pill bugs (roly-polys) where I grew up in rural Southern US. We would sing 'doodle doodle doodle bug' and they would burrow into the ground. Perhaps STM had a past life in the country??

  18. Whats completely amazing is the fact that my little sister's nickname is doodle bug, I never knew it was a song haha

  19. Same as missjulierae commented above, my family always called what everyone else called "roly-poly" bugs, doodle bugs. I'm from Southern Louisiana and used to argue with others as a child that those bugs were indeed called doodle bugs!

  23. 'Doodle bugs' were the UK name for the German V1 flying bomb during WWII. Thousands of them hit London, it's logical since your husband is English. Well, dream logical.

  24. OMG! That high-pitched "Repeat please" is too funny!!!!

    Awesome stuff as usual.

Odd makes for great entertainment ;-)

  25. Has Adam ever watched the movie The Battle of Britain? It's just that, as has been pointed out, Doodlebug was a nickname for the V1. There was also a scene in that movie where a British RAF officer is trying to get his squadron of Polish pilots to stay in formation as they start peeling off to attack a squadron of German fighters. They pretend they don't understand him, with each one simply saying, 'Repeat Please'.

  27. We used to raise yorkies. Whirring puppies is a fitting description.
My computer has been dead all week. This was the perfect thing to read when I could finally check this blog again!

  28. I like the tornado puppy reference. Our puppy is a Pom/poodle cross (like to call her a poodlarian but that is another story) who has taken taken to destroying anything in her path. She specifically likes things that we own (because she loves us). We have had a leather cell phone case destroyed, she often steals wallets out of purses (she seems to like money, as we have found it scattered about the living room floor before), and I'm praying she doesn't go after my favourite loafers!!! I have been calling her tornado puppy for a few months now, though I suspect hurricane is a better name.... Love the blog, keep it coming!

  29. I think the best bit of the doodlebug portion is the rhythm. It was like he was singing a song.

  32. Doodle bug is also a nickname for the ant lion, because it makes "doodles" under the sand when it digs around. Strange.

  35. Yeah, reading through the old ones today, I've been impressed by how he sometimes seems to know exactly what he's hearing in his sleep. Very interesting that he says things that he doesn't understand upon waking.
