"No. Don't look up. They're in the trees. Those tree cows. They're a deadly shot. They'll get you in the eyes. Get them down with threats of violence. And a bucket of grass, of course."
Loving the sleep-talking! Tree cows...perfect addition to Adam's farmyard in his dream-land there! It reminds me of my sleep-talking Brit: he's in the army however, and so his sleep-talking is usually work related.
Never mind that password thing...fixed now!
(And 'Hi!' I've been reading for a while, but have finally decided to post. You both make stressful days a bit better for myself and my friends in the States...and my friends in the UK for that matter! Thanks for letting us in to your world to hear these!)
Honestly, I love reading the "coming awake" stuff more than anything else... I know, nearly a sacrilege, don't get me wrong, I love the sleeptalking too. But your back and forth conversations, and the reveals, are completely my favourites.
Agreed, I love "shut up and hug me" but mainly because it's totally the type of thing I say.
Was he awake for this bit?: KAREN: Licking? ADAM: Licking! KAREN: I was petting you. ADAM: You were licking me! KAREN: I was not licking you. My tongue was firmly ensconced in my mouth, and I was just using my hand to slightly- ADAM: It was wet.
The tree cows reminded me of a poem I knew in grade school..."Birdie, birdie in the sky, dropped a whitewash in my eye. But I didn't cry! Thank goodness cows don't fly!"
I totally agree with Anonymous 10:30. The "coming awake" conversations are just hilarious. Gives us a chance to be closer to you two, not just STM and Karen. :]
This is the second time STM has accidentally mistaken you for a cow. There is no way to make that sound right, but it's too funny. But I agree with Waking-Adam's sentiments that you are in no way heifer-like, and in fact quite pretty.

ReplyDeleteAmazing, the man is a master strategist, even in the dead of night.

ReplyDeletelol I take it that Adam doesn't much like waking up.
ReplyDeleteThe conversation reminds me of the deleted scenes from Donny Darko.
ReplyDelete"It's time. IT'S TIME!"
I like how you end things with, "Now shut up and hug me." Very sweet. =0)
ReplyDeleteYou should put "shut up and hug me" on T-Shirts!

ReplyDeleteMy wife shouted out at 3.30AM Sunday morning - ' Paul get up... you have to have a shower, we are going to be late, you have to have a shower first'.
ReplyDeleteThis is so unusual, normally it revolves around her suggestions of where to place 'refried bean cans' on the shelf.
I am so lost...
LOL that's what i was wondering alex...
ReplyDeleteshut up and hug me is so cute :)

ReplyDeleteTime for... what exactly? That's what I wanna know. LOL
ReplyDeleteOn second though - no I don't.
Now shut up and hug me. =D
I love that he always seems to wake up with some kind of absurd exclamation or another. But "Stop licking!" is one of the best wake-up shouts so far.
ReplyDeleteKaren, can you put the "tree cows" on a t-shirt, please? My husband definitely wants one. Great stuff, always.
ReplyDelete"It's time. Now shut up and hug me". Love it! No sleep talking for a while after that. ;)
ReplyDeleteAvid reader from Bermuda. You guys kick start my day, keep it up.
I like how "And a bucket of grass, of course" was the most sinister part of the dialog.
ReplyDeletereminds me of a poem that a friend of mine mad up in high school.
ReplyDeleteLittle birdies fly so high,
dropping presents from the sky.
angry farmers wipe their eyes.
now aren't you glad that cows don't fly?
The one I heard was;
ReplyDeleteLittle birdie flying high
Dropped a present from the sky
As I wiped it from my eye
I thanked the Lord that cows don't fly!
I was thinking after reading this that you guys should make one of those calendars that flips, and everyday has a new phrase from STM! It'd be cute :)
