Karen's notes:

Nuns on a tandem bike - Could someone please please please draw us a cartoon of this!?

Dip and lick - Adam must be talking about something like this:

Remember these? You lick the sugar-stick to get it wet, then dip it in the sugar-powder. Oh, 1980s, a beautiful time free of all this silly talk of nutritious snacks.

Reminder: Only four days left of free shipping on shirts. It ends Sunday.

Added later: Oh, wow! I just realized that, back in March, STM talked about Zebedee and DipDab on the same day. Whoa! (To explain, Zebedee is a cartoon character with a spring instead of legs, and DipDab is just like DoubleDip!) Go check it out,!

  2. Surely STM was trying to be inspector Gadget in the second one? Such a flash back from my childhood that contained lot of the dear inspector. :D

  3. Oh man, now I'm jonesin' for a Dip and Lick (I forget what they were called here - Dipsticks come to mind). That was one of my favorites growing up back in the 80s when, like Karen said, no one cared about the lack of nutrition or the fact that you were eating sugar with a sugar dipper. The only thing you had to worry about was not giving into the temptation to taste the stick sans sugar. If you did, you were relegated to using your finger to eat the rest of the sugar.
I loved the "Goodness, Gracious and Me" quote. I went to a Catholic College (even though I'm Protestant) and would occasionally see some nuns biking from one place to another, reminiscent of Miss Gulch riding her bike in The Wizard of Oz. And trust me, the nuns were just as scary as Miss Gulch!

  4. I can't help thinking he meant something else with "dip and lick". ;o)
"Goodness, Gracious, and me" should go on a t-shirt.

And on a side note, "You wanna kiss this face" - Please oh please can you put this on a shirt??

    Happy Sleep Talking!

  6. I remember dip sticks! We would throw the sticks away, and just pour the sugar in our mouths!

After we got older5, we would make roach clips out of the sticks, and save the sugar for the "Munchies" later! Ahh!!! Cannabis!

  7. Two Nuns were riding a tandem along Wapping Warf in Bristol. The Nun on the back seat (the stoker) remarked "I've never come this way before", the reply "Must be the cobble stones"

  8. The 80's? We still have those now (and my brother love them)! They're pretty crazy, sugary sugar dipped in sugar.

  12. Hey, Bonnie... Love the Nuns in bumper cars picture. In fact, it must be All Nun Day at that theme park that day because when you look at the spectators all around, there are ONLY nuns! lol

    Love STM every single day.

  13. My kids were whining first thing in the morning, just non-stop. Finally lost it, told them to shut up, and used "Your voice, my ears. BAD COMBINATION!!!" without thinking, then sent them to their rooms. Thanks for the addition to parental frustration language.

  19. Wow, I can't believe no one has pointed out what an amazingly good mood STM was in. There was no cussing, no rudeness, He even said thank you! He got to see nun on bikes, eat dippy sticks (open for debate, I understand), fun jumpy springs, and by the sounds of it, topped off his delightfull day being romantic. ~Sighs~ Wish I could have such amazing days ^.^
