"Where are all the sleep sheep? Everyone's got a sleep sheep. My sleep sheep's not here. Oh. How am I meant to sleep without my sleep sheep? Sleep sheeeeeep... Wait, you've got two, you bastard! I'm taking that one. He's so soft. Ah, sleep sheep. Don't leave me again. Baaaaaaahhhh."

Karen's notes: Adam must have been tired out from him amazing performance on Tuesday night (this one is from that night, and there were even more!). It was either that, or all the celebrating yesterday afternoon. (Oh, yeah, for those of you in the US, there was an important "soccer" game yesterday. Spoiler alert: we both won.)

Anyway, I LOVE the emotional roller-coaster that is "sleep sheep". First he's utterly self-pitying, then angrily indignant, and finally he finds peaceful contentment. Baaaaahhhhhh indeed.

Merch update: I confess I could NOT resist making a t-shirt of "Captain Bollocks of the Good Ship Scrotum."

Shameless and irrelevant advice solicitation: Speaking of ships, anyone know an affordable option for hiring a boat for the Norfolk Broads in September?

  1. Sleep sheep reminds me of a scented plush lamb my daughter has. It's supposed to have a soothing scent that helps you sleep. It has some kind of potpourri sachet sewn into its belly, so she named it Smelly Belly.

  2. As a matter of fact, this is it: http://reviews.bathandbodyworks.com/1884/2880493/reviews.htm

  3. I've used Barnes Brinkcraft more than once - they're a family run business and good value. September should be affordable. We've been in the summer before and that's far more expensive!

  9. This one is cute and awesome and just...well, like that Eilonwy person said...ridiculously happy :-)

Poor Adam (lol)... I don't follow soccer or "football" (or football for that matter) so I won't make fun of anybody ;-)

  10. Hey I'm just a fan from NZ and I have to say Go the ALL WHITES. First time they qualified for FIFA World Cup in nearly 30 years, we're ranked 78th and we tied with Italy. Some of our players are only part time...

    Just had to say it.

  15. There's also a Sleep Sheep for babies and young children that has a white noise machine inside. (I hadn't heard of the kind with a scent.)

  16. I have to be honest, sheep are not actually very cuddly. Their wool is quite scratchy, and they feel really hard underneath it. You can't even pet them properly, except on their pretty faces (I've had some very close sheep friends).

Goats, on the other hand, are VERY soft and cuddly, and I have snuggled with many. In fact, Adam and I plan to have a goat farm some time.

  17. yes, it's true. karen is a snuggler of all animals. she does love her goats especially.

  18. I love this one. It's totally brilliant. (If possible, don't cut any of it when you put it on a shirt or pillow Karen!)

I used to live on a horse farm, which also had a few sheep and a few goats. And Karen is completely correct. (But they're all dear in their personalities. Very sweet creatures.)

  21. Hill sheep have very rough coats while lowland breeds have much softer wool. Are your farming friends from hilly or mountainous areas Karen?

  23. When I was ten years old I used to work for Mrs Carl Sandburg who was the long-suffering, and very patient wife of Flat Rock's resident celebrity author and favorite eccentric. She taught me how to push a wheel barrow, and how to grub stalls without bending over. Bending over in a goat stall that has a billy in it is NOT a good idea!

Billy goats also have a smell that you can actually see! Nanny goats are usually friendly, and the kids are capering playful delightful little creatures!

My grandmother sold the Sandburgs brown eggs from her Rhode Island Red chickens, and zucchini squash from her garden. They would pay her five times what they were worth, and no matter what my grandmother said, Mrs. Sandburg would insist, and tell her "Give the extra to the less fortunate"

I got twenty 1967 dollars for grubbing out ten stalls, and raking the lot. If I washed the long wheelbase Jeep, I got another ten!

Mr. Sandburg gave me my first cigar on one of those trips, and showed me the proper way to smoke it. "You're half grown, boy!", he would tell me in that booming voice of his, "You'll be old enough for the draft soon, so you'ld better enjoy a few manly pleasures while you can!"

Watching that old man play his folk songs on one of his many different kinds of instruments, and dance around was one of the warmest memories of my childhood!

  24. I have two things to say about yesterday's game: USA, USA, USA!!! and those refs all need glasses, major big time - I swear they're either blind or they really do hate Americans with the blinding passion of the burning white sun.

Also, "sleep sheep" really should go on a pillow case or something. It's too awesome. :D

  26. Ooh Norfolk Broads. Do you want a cruiser or a sailing yacht? Cause the latter are way more fun... ;) (former: probably Hoseasons I think based in Potter Heigham or Barnes Brinkcraft, latter: hunter's boatyard Ludham, Upton boatyard, Colin Buttifant's for the more luxurious yachts, Martham Boatyard for the cheaper option)
