"That's right. Crème anglaise, mother fucker."
or click here__________
Karen's notes: That's the french term for what is called "custard" in the UK, which gets poured over a wide variety of desserts. In the States, I suppose some people would call it "custard", but it shouldn't be confused with frozen soft ice cream. It pretty much tastes exactly like vanilla pudding, with a thinner consistency.
I like the first comment: "Sounds like Adam combined Julia Child and Die Hard." -Kate
And then someone responded: "Or Samuel L. Jackson in 'Cakes on a Plane'."

Sounds like Adam combined Julia Childs and Die Hard...
ReplyDelete*Child, not "Childs" Oops!
ReplyDeleteI work for a restaurant, and I know a chef or two who would LOVE this on a shirt!
ReplyDelete@Kate, that or Samuel L. Jackson in "Cakes on a Plane"
ReplyDelete@Just_becky "Cakes on a Plane", brilliant! Now let me see that as a movie. :D
ReplyDeleteHere in the states it's called Crème anglaise. Delicious.
ReplyDeleteSamuel L. Jackson in "Cakes on a Plane" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DzRvBGE0ZY
Leave it to me to take an ordinary desert phrase and turn it into something nasty...
ReplyDeleteSeeing as Anglaise is the French word for English, this translates to "English Creme". Meaning the cream of the English (like Englishman...)
I don't want to explain further, but I wouldn't put this context past STM either.
Call it the icing on the cake.
Sorry, but I had to share...
Oops dessert
ReplyDeleteit would fit in any terminator films
ReplyDeleteSamuel L. Jackson is AWESOME!!! and so is this quote!
ReplyDeletethis one is screaming for an apron!
ReplyDeleteAs an aspiring pastry chef, I would LOVE this on an apron.
ReplyDeleteI somehow can't see STM as SLJ. Now Morgan Freeman on the other hand.... though I can't think of a movie title with MF that would work.
ReplyDeleteHowever - somehow I can see STM as a corruption of one of my childhood memories, Morgan Freeman as Easy Reader on The Eletric Company -

If I was better at writing I'd rewrite the song with a bunch of STM's more popular sayings.
"Sleep Talkin' Man, that's my name, Uh-Uh-Uh!"
Look out! He's got a blancmange hidden in his waistband as well..... 7@=G
ReplyDeleteCreme Anglaise is a 'custard sauce,' a sauce made with cream, sugar and egg yolks, normally with vanilla. If this mixture is churn frozen it becomes ice cream...at least that's what culinary school taught me :P
ReplyDeletebut as a patissier, I would love this on a shirt more than anything :D:D
Okay I've been around some great Frozen custard places here in the U.S. and it is actually different (or supposed to be) than Soft serve ice cream.
ReplyDeletehaha this would fit in Cop Out too XD i was watching it when i read this lol
ReplyDeletePlease please please put this on an apron. As a Pastry Chef, I know atleast ten people I would buy it for!
ReplyDeleteAs a amateur baker, I would love this on a t-shirt.
