Karen's notes: This quote, uttered early this morning, is amazingly apropos for today's post.

You see, I once had a silly little blog that, on its very best day, had had 459 visitors. And then one fateful day, exactly one year ago today, in fact, Adam and I awoke to find that the world had discovered my little blog overnight— literally.

So on this first anniversary of the blog going viral, I want to thank all of you faithful readers for sticking around for so goddamn long. Here's to many years of STM amusing and offending us.

  1. And now you're at 8.8 million visitors. Thank you for a year of daily amusement. I wish you all (Karen, Adam and STM) many more years together.

  13. Happy Anniversary! I'm happy to have been one of the "pre-viral" visitors, as I've been coming here daily since sometime in Nov 09. Thanks for making me smile each morning, but not so much for the times the coffee comes out my nose...

  14. Yay! To another year of amusement by this wonderfully hilarious blog! After a year of coming to this blog daily, I'll still continue to listen to STM's nightly rambles. Happy Anniversary!!! :D

  15. Ditto on all the previous comments! Your blog is one of the few bright spots in my life these days. For that, I can't thank you enough. Just imagine though if one day/night Adam stopped his night time ramblings....the whole world would be going into withdrawal! Thanks again for all the many needed grins, giggles and outbursts of laughter. You ever make it to the TN area, you have a place to hang your hat!

  16. Happy Anniversary! You are the first place I go when I get up in the morning! Even before my email! I can't even remember how I found about you existed, I feel like you were always here.
When I suddenly start making no sense, my children have stopped asking what I am talking about. They know I am reading you aloud! Thanks for not only letting into your bedroom, but even sharing your honeymoon! You sound like a couple of great people!

  17. Happy Anniversary! I know exactly how I found you. We have a mutual friend - Aimee. She posted on Facebook - that's all it took! Now like a lot of other people, STM is my first thing in the morning read.

Thank you so much for sharing!

  19. Found your blog when it was referenced in another blog's comments, must be close to a year ago. Loving the remarks STM comes out with, my favourite so far is the one about putting the duck on the swing. :)

Got to get the 'pvc and duct tape' tshirt for my boy soon, too, he is an electrician working at a plastic pipe manufacturing plant, so it is perfect!

Many happy returns, Karen, Adam and STM!

  26. This made me smile after a day where there were so many tears and horror. I don't know if you heard about it over in the UK, but here in Tucson, Arizona, our beloved Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords, was shot along with 12 other people at a meeting with her constituents just down the road from me. She is truly a light in the dark days here in Southern Arizona and I know many, many people who have been paralyzed with shock to the violence that has occurred.

I don't mean to hijack the comments section, but I wanted to just say thank you to Karen and Adam, because I did need to smile today. And please, whether you pray or meditate or even take just a moment to yourself, please think peaceful thoughts. There are so many injured and six lives that were snuffed out by the actions of a madman. :(

  27. Karen, I think your blogs success was when it was selected as Blogger's Blog of the Day. That is where I first heard of this place and have been following it ever since. Nice work!

  28. I know I'm a couple days late but happy 1st year viral anni!!! or if you prefer odd words... VIRALANNI!
I am proud to admit that I am one of the many that found your blog last year. I've enjoyed it every day I can get online since!!! Thanks STM for the sayings... thanks Adam for having annoying coworkers.... and Karen for the brilliant idea of sharing it all with us. Hope there are many more years of STM and hopefully more of STW attacking Adam in his sleep!! lol

  29. As to your comments after the blog ... did you have to use the "gd" word? Wouldn't a simple "damn" have sufficed?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Congrats!! :-) LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog. And "anonymous" - did you have to go out of your way to push your beliefs on other people?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Aww, I'm getting all teary-eyed! I remember discovering you guys on The Today Show here in the States. Thank you for amusing us and making our mornings so pleasant! You guys rock! Here's to many more!

    ReplyDelete
  32. MentalGarbage ... I didn't realize I was pushing my beliefs on anyone. I've never said anything when STM says it in his sleep, but I find the use of that particular word in poor taste when used intentionally, espcially when other words would serve the same purpose.

  33. It was almost a year ago that I had a domestic altercation with my ex-boyfriend who then left me 4 months pregnant. To say the least, I was shaken and upset, but later that night I happened across a little blog and found myself truly laughing out loud. It was just what I needed when I needed it most.
So here's to both of you : Adam for sharing what's on his mind during slumber, and Karen for sharing it with us. Cheers!
Oh and my girl is now 7 months, and the most beautiful baby ever. Not that I'm biased.
