Adam slept like a log (a silent log) until the plumber woke us up.

But I do have a special treat today: audio! Take a look at the left panel. It's not very graceful implementation, and I'm still working out the kinks, so I apologize if it acts up for anyone.

If you want to watch us on TV, check out the "STM in the Media" section in the left panel.

We also just added "Our Favorite Things Online." This is not a place for exchanging links, it is a brief list of our actual favorite things online.

  1. Wow - thanks for the audio clips. My hubby does similar mutterings in the night although definitely not as frequent!

    Once he said...
Eat crocodile, eat crocodile. They eat chips.. cheddar too.

Think I sleep too heavily now and miss all his chunterings.

  2. The duck one is very funny. I wonder what is going through his head when he says this?

  3. The audio clips don't work in Firefox unless you look at the page source and pull the direct link out.

Firefox has a 35% market share on Windows and almost 100% share on Linux.

Any chance you could find a way that doesn't exclude those of us who refuse to use Microdoft products?

  4. I watched the NBC Today Show clip which was posted on Yahoo News. Afterwards I spent an hour reading through the entire blog. I haven't laughed quite that much in a long time. Thanks and happy dreams!!

  6. Sounds started to play all of a sudden and all of them at the same time, I didn't even click anywhere, which is pretty annoying. Does anyone other have the same issue? Also, I have these bars on the left side that don't seem to be doing anything. I'm using Chrome.

  25. Please, could you have the audio in MP3 or WMA.. I just hate the QT plug-in, & QT itself. Bloatware... yeah I know I'm wining.. I don't like it too.. But I'd love to hear the audio.. if anyone could please post the audio somewhere else in MP3/WMA/any other format that does not require the QT plug-in, I'd be grateful... All those who have FF & W7 but no voice, it is the W7 Plug-in..

  26. To the anonymous person who says it's not working on Firefox, I only use Firefox and it works fine on mine. Maybe it's your windows vista that is the problem?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Saw your story on the TODAY show yesterday in the US and laughed til I cried (sorry Adam). Thank you for creating this blog, but more importantly, thank you for not being afraid to laugh at yourselves. Without humor in our lives, the world is a much sadder place. Thank you for brightening things up. And thank you for adding audio. Hearing him say these things is the icing on the cake.

    ReplyDelete
  51. LMAO From Steinhatchee Florida. Warning, don't read this while your drinking your morning coffee! You might spew it all over your screen!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I can't get it to work in Chrome - but it does work in Explorer. In both though, the quicktime controls are just a black bar, I need to click around in it to find the 'play' button... Hilarious stuff though! Thank you! He would be a great punchline writer ;)

  58. everyone, i was really really nervous about having my voice played out on air, and funnily enough more so having it on the site. but thank you for your amazing comments. the popularity of the site is totally unexpected, but the response from people enjoying the humour and revelling in the hilarity of it really touches both karen and i.

thank you all so very very much

    ReplyDelete
  60. The links work fine. All except for the fact that they are in quicktime format. Why not try something a little more universal like .wav or .mp3

    ReplyDelete
  61. Yeah, I ran across this blog awhile ago via the blogs of note. Then I saw a clip of you guys on Yahoo. I LOVE the, "you can't be a pirate unless you have a beard... MY boat, MY rules. I almost died when I read that and listed to online. Too freaking funny. Keep them coming... I wish my husband did cool tricks like that. ;)

  66. Wow, that's all that can be said is, Wow. And I agree, putting the duck there is Totally irresponsible. If only it didn't have all the foul language... Maybe change the tv shows and movies he's allowed to watch, switch to PBS ;)

    ReplyDelete
  67. baaahhahahahahhahaa. hilarious. you should be a stand up comedian. just take some ambien right before the show and someone can wheel you on stage.

    ReplyDelete
  68. The audio is a great addition.

One possible fix that should improve things for people running any HTML 5 supporting browser is to use the <audio> element. It could be used similarly to the example used on the linked page, placing the current <embed> element as a replacement for the unsupported message text as a fall-back for non-supporting browsers.

    Hope this helps.

  69. My little sister talks in her sleep, a few of her memorable quotes...

"Can we get the game where you blowup diapers?"

"Yay, Bobby and David got a Playstation 360!"

    "Don't take the cookie jar!"

    "That elephant was. . ."

    There's more but I can't remember them.

  70. Audio isn't working for me on Win7 / IE8.

I really enjoyed your NBC clip, and am guilty of checking your page first thing in the morning as well. Thanks for the laughs!

    ReplyDelete
  71. Hahaha. Your husband is hilarious. I was just about to say you should have a Twitter, and then I found you on there.

    ReplyDelete
  72. OMG sooo funny! I thought I was the only one that did this...my family teases me...I see and say crazy things in light sleep... one time I woke up and said " there is a midget at the door!" and "Watch out for that cow!"....this is soooo funny. Glad to not be alone! ha ha ha

    ReplyDelete
  73. LOL! Precious! You'll have lots of fun at family gatherings in about 20 years!!!

Not wirking in Firefox 3.5.7 on my PC. I just opened IE and waited and waited for the damn thing to load. Sometimes you can't get away from it.

  76. ROTFL!

We and all of our boating friends just might need to have the pirate T-shirts....

    ReplyDelete
  77. I really like the audio; it makes it even funnier because of the delivery. He is so serious and sometimes even deadpan about it that it creates a hilarious contrast with the content of what he's saying. It's all in the delivery!

    ReplyDelete
  78. the audio postings are hysterical! thank you so much and keep it up!! :]

  82. Oh my! The audio is priceless! LOVED the Duck!

    ReplyDelete
  83. My friend sent me a link to you on... something that was on yahoo video, anyway went from there to here and haven't stopped laughing yet. I've listened to the kittens one about five times and I still find it hillarious. Theres something about the audio that just makes it great. I think its the british. Its one thing to read things but I find it so much funny when I hear it with the british accent. Maybe its just cause British comedy is always so much better than North American and it makes me think of things like Doctor Who and Hitchhikers guide, but I just love the audio. Its got the serious tone of listening to an audio book or something, but unless I was listening to Alice in Wonderland or something you'd never hear these phrases in an audio book. I love it. Thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Firefox works fine for me. Love the website and following you on Facebook. Actually blogged about you too. My daughter volunteers at a shelter in the cat room and loves the kittens one. Hopefully I'll be able to get her a t-shirt soon. Wouldn't they be great to sell at shelters?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Haha, the audio is amazing! Love it. I'll be laughing twice as hard now.

I'm running quicktime plugin 7.6.4 in firefox 3.5.7, on a mac, for reference.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I LOVE the duck, badger and pirate audio clips!!! They had me giggling endlessly! :)

    ReplyDelete
  87. Adam at night is so much quieter and less quarrelsome than I heard in my head. He sounds very much like in real life Adam, only foul-mouthed and surreal. Definitely made it that much weirder and funnier.

Re: audio problems -- please give Karen and Adam a break, they are sharing their lives with us for our amusement, for which we are all thankful. The audio is an extra special gift. I'm sure you can sort out your plug-in issues without kvetching about it here.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I have windows internet explorer but the audio buttons just have X's on them and won't allow me to click...so they don't work for me. I'll be patient though because I've already heard some mutterings on the This Morning show and on the post from yahoo! I live in a circle of friends that love to quote movies and tv shows in common conversations as private jokes....and these are all EXCELLENT quotes and topics of conversation so THANK YOU!!! You're a brilliant wife for thinking to do this!

  91. Can we buy the audio for our phones? God I'd love the duck on the swing one as a ringtone! :)
