Karen's notes: Adam slept like the dead last night, so these are both from the nestegg.
I've had "Mudlark!" as my ringtone for a couple of weeks now. I LOVE it, although I get some funny looks on the train.
(And for those who have wikipedia'ed "mudlark," yes, we do take Adam's kids mudlarking, and we do use that word.)
I would think Mudlark! would get you some weird glances in public lol.
ReplyDeletelmao @ mudlark...don't know what it is, but the way he said it is not at all what I was expecting!
ReplyDeleteIt feels like "mudlark" needs to be followed with something like, " ... Oh so pretty! Tra la la!"
ReplyDelete...update: googled mudlark, picked wikipedia, now I know what it is. lol
ReplyDeleteHelp, I can't stop listening to Mudlark! And it gets funnier every time.
ReplyDeleteWhen do we get a "mudlark" ringtone?
ReplyDeleteOh there is it!
ReplyDeleteLove these ones yet again!
ReplyDeleteMy hubby had an interesting one last night a few minutes after he dropped off:
"I was thinking... what would be good... lemon turtles! We could wash them in soup. What do you think?"
I only wish I had a recorder!
Dawn: That's awesome! -Karen
ReplyDeleteAlways funny :)
ReplyDeleteI have never in my life laughed as hard as I just did. "MUDLARK!"
ReplyDeletewhat would be good?....washing turtles in arse bags that's what! - adam
ReplyDeleteI just can't stop playing "Mudlark!" I'm almost in tears from laughing so hard. I waited to see if he says anything else but no.... it's perfect as is though.
ReplyDeleteI herd u leik Mudlarks??
ReplyDelete(I really hate myself for typing this, but as no one else posted it I felt obligated. It's a rule of the internet, or something. I don't know. Anyway, funny stuff as always!)
And once again STM delivers my esoteric lesson of the day. Now fascinated by mudlarking. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm personally loving the shapely one! That needs to be a t-shirt!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLol "mudlark!" is so funny xD BUT I cant help but wonder what would happen is STM had lucid dreams... (Dreams when you realise your dreaming and so can learn to control them!)
ReplyDeleteWhere we live in SC is one of the best places in the US for shark teeth and other fossils. I take the kids fossil hunting at low tide every summer.
ReplyDeleteMight just have to start calling it mudlarking.
Like others, I had to look up "mudlarking" and you might want to make sure we all know which definition you mean! I know you mean poking through the mud for stuff (I hope) but the Urban Dictionary has an entirely different meaning! One you would't take your kids to do!
ReplyDelete@Adam: sounds like you've moved to sleep-typing? would i be right?
ReplyDeleteI think the first one needs to be on a T-shirt. :)
ReplyDeleteOf course, you could just put Mudlark! on a shirt and people would probably think it silly too. ;)
I'm with Anon18:13. I looked it up and the only word that popped up in my mind was 'seriously??!!'
ReplyDeleteWould you please enlighten us, Karen? :-)
Karen was pretty clear she meant the Wikipedia definition, guys.
ReplyDeleteT-shirt shapely one is my vote! I'd sooooo save up for that. :D
ReplyDeleteHahaha!
ReplyDeleteI love the way he says 'Mudlark!'
lol x)
If only T-Shirts could talk ;P
LOL
ReplyDeleteMudlark is actually one of my boyfriend's favorite bands also. Besides being an activity I was unaware of.
My boyfriend talks in his sleep. I wish HE would say Mudlark! =P
You've got to make a "shapely" T-shirt. Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'm missing it, but what are the sizes on the tee shirts (US)? I'm a BBW (24 or 3x depending on the vendor) and would love the 'shapely' one!
ReplyDeleteOH YES you have to have a shapely T shirt.....it would be BRILLIANT. When he says Mudlark, it sounds like a bird call......LOL
ReplyDeleteThe "Shapely" one NEEDS to be a t shirt! How great would that be? SO GREAT!
ReplyDeleteAlso, "mudlark!"
I think I'm going to walk around saying that in a high voice to my friends.... or random strangers....
anonymous BBW asking about large shirts the plus size is a different shirt and karen will be sure to make this in the shop.
ReplyDeletein the top right corner of the shop, you can click on the category "plus sizes" and see all the shirts available.
adam
OMG!!!!!! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. I found your blog through Johan's. And I'm LOVING it so far!!!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I go around saying MUDLARK at each other randomly now, and then falling into fits of laughter .. she's 14, its great to share something so funny with her!
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely getting the ringtone!!
..love you in Canada :)
I love the idea of just randomly yelling, "Mudlark!" in places where it would unexpected. It could be a kind of code... when we hear it yelled, everyone drops and starts digging where they stand!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I'm curious... you said you've taken the kids mudlarking. Have you ever found anything interesting?
Love the blog!!
